This version of the Texas flag was allegedly designed by Lorenzo de Zavala at the Washington-on-the-Brazos convention in 1836 which drafted the Texas Declaration of Independence from Mexico as well as the original Texas Constitution. Although there were suggestions to place the letters T E X A S around the star, there is no evidence to support the claim that Zavala actually designed this exact flag. In the 1930s, a member of the venerable Daughters of the Republic of Texas named Mamie Wynne Cox wrote a book called The Romantic Flags of Texas and asserted that this version of the flag was indeed the Lorenzo de Zavala flag, and the name stuck. We think that whether or not Zavala really designed the flag, it's a pretty damn good symbol of the Lone Star State. We decided to make our version red and white instead of the traditional blue and white. Red for bravery, white for purity. Sounds like Texas to us.

- Front left chest of shirt features 1776 United logo with 13 stars and olive branches placed over the state of Texas.

About 1776 United

We created 1776 United to evoke a sense of patriotism found in our forefathers. Most have forgotten to ask themselves not what their country can do for them, but what they can do for their country.

Our dream is to inspire a new wave of patriotism that might lead to the next Greatest Generation. We aim for the clothing we create to embody the many chapters of American history. Each shirt is a cotton reminder of who we are, where we live, and where we're going.
