A Republic, if you can keep it. At the close of the Constitutional Convention of 1787, Franklin was queried as he left Independence Hall on the final day of deliberation. In the notes of Dr. James McHenry, one of Maryland’s delegates to the Convention, a lady asked Dr. Franklin “Well Doctor what have we got, a republic or a monarchy.” Franklin replied, “A republic . . . if you can keep it.” Our Constitution created a limited representative republic. A republic is different from a democracy. In a democracy, the majority can directly make laws, while in a republic, elected representatives make laws.

We created 1776 United to evoke a sense of patriotism found in our forefathers. Most have forgotten to ask themselves not what their country can do for them, but what they can do for their country.

This shirt is the perfect fit! It has regular short sleeves and a regular neckline, like a boyfriend fit, but it still feels great around my curves, which is exactly what I wanted. I don’t need to expose my upper arms or chest, so I’ve worn a lot of men’s t-shirts in my life, but I don’t like the way men’s t-shirts hang off my curves like drapes. This shirt is PERFECT!!! It's very soft and comfortable, either by itself or over a baselayer in colder weather, and the quality seems very good. I got the olive green one. I love the both color and the design.
