The Statue of Liberty! One of the most iconic images and peices of art from this great country of ours. Was dedicated to us from France on October 28th, 1886. Designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi. Here are some uncommon facts about it! It is extremely thin. The skin is about the depth of two pennies! Originally was a gift to celebrate abolition in the US. Because it is so thin, it sways in the wind, up to 5 inches in heavy wind! The statue was administered by the United States Lighthouse Board until 1901 and then by the Department of War; since 1933 it has been maintained by the National Park Service as part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument, and is a major tourist attraction. We created 1776 United to evoke a sense of patriotism found in our forefathers. Most have forgotten to ask themselves not what their country can do for them, but what they can do for their country.
Our dream is to inspire a new wave of patriotism that might lead to the next Greatest Generation. We aim for the clothing we create to embody the many chapters of American history. Each shirt is a cotton reminder of who we are, where we live, and where we're going.
