July 11, 1804. Dawn on a rock ledge above the Hudson at Weehawken, New Jersey. The sitting Vice President of the United States and the former Secretary of the Treasury stood back to back, pistols raised, and paced off.

Aaron Burr walked away. Alexander Hamilton died the next day. Burr finished his term as Vice President while wanted for murder in two states. Neither man ever recovered from the morning. The duel killed them both, one in a day, the other over thirty years.

This design is drawn as an 1804 fight bill, hand illustrated in the style of a letterpress prizefight announcement, both men rendered in period engraving linework. Every detail on it is real: the place, the hour, the distance.
